An expanded series of 55 Super-Plast moulded universal joints confer to designers the best of both worlds: the economy of plastic, plus the positive fastening characteristics of metaI-to-metal contact.

In addition, these lightweight U-joints feature lower inertia, greater torsional strength and higher strength-to-weight ratio than do equivalent all-metal couplings.

Developed for a wide variety of instrumentation applications, especially where the starting torque of a drive is too high for conventional all-plastic U-joints, the Super-Plast types combine brass inserts within a thick-walled moulded plastic hub.

This construction leads to a lightweight, durable and economical design.

Four different universal joint types are available including: single, double, plus types with moulded slide extensions, and with brass slide extensions.

AII are available in inch and metric sizes, and most are available completely moulded with metal spiders, or with inserts and metal spiders.

The bodies are made from moulded acetal with the spiders and inserts made from nickel plated brass.

With these components, using Super-Plast designs, users can replace metal components inexpensively, especially for low torque applications.

AII SDP moulded universal joints can operate at temperatures up to 85C.

The moulded universal single joints have an angular displacement of up to 45 degrees and are available in lengths ranging from 19.0 to 52.7mm for fully moulded pieces and 26.6 to 66.9mm for those with inserts.

ODs range from 6.3 to 15.9mm for all pieces.

Maximum torques for these joints range from 0.57 to 6.8Nm.

The moulded universal double joints have an angular displacement of up to 90 degrees and are available in lengths ranging from 27 to 74.9mm for fully moulded pieces and 34.6 to 89.2mm for these worth inserts.

ODs range from 6.3 to 15.9mm for all pieces.

Maximum torques for these joints range from 0.28 to 5.3Nm.

The moulded universal joints with moulded slide extensions have an angular displacement of 90 degrees maximum and can be extended up to 19mm.

The maximum torques range from 0.9 to 1.6Nm closed and from 0.5 to 1.1Nm open.

Typical bore depths for these joints range from 8.6 to 16mm.

The moulded universal joints with brass slide extensions have angular displacements of up to 90 degrees and can be extended up to half the length of their brass tubes.

These joints have closed lengths ranging from 82.6 to 203.2mm.

These telescoping universal joints have typical bore depths ranging from 9.9 to 21.8mm.
