Slit type flexible couplings from Sterling Instrument are available off-the-shelf in three styles - split hub, set screw or keyway.

They are constructed from a single piece of aluminium or stainless steel with spiral cuts to allow for common types of shaft misalignment.

These metric couplings provide zero backlash and are for use in applications such as encoders, measuring equipment, positioning systems, robotics, servo systems, tachometers and test equipment.

Identified as the S50MS series, they are intended to fit shafts from 4 to 30mm in diameter.

Body sizes are from 8 to 63mm in diameter.

Their maximum angularity is 2deg.
