Off-the-shelf rigid and flexible small couplings make it easier for engineers and specifiers to spend their time designing rather than looking for hard-to-find parts.

An expanded line of 781 off-the-shelf rigid and flexible small couplings are making it easier for engineers and specifiers to spend their time designing rather than looking for hard-to-find parts.

The couplings, introduced by Stock Drive Products (commercial tolerances) and Sterling Instrument (precision tolerances), comprise 29 types and include Oldham, Geargrip, sleeve, jaw, spider, K, Schmidt, helical, miniature ball, offset extension and a selection of bellows types.

Bores are designed to be fastened to shafts either by pinning with setscrews or clamps.

Of interest is the Fairloc series of bellows couplings which use a transverse wedge to create a cantilevered clamping section that can be easily repositioned on the shaft.

Bore diameters range from 0.3175 to 1.588cm.

These couplings are stocked in 16 materials to respond to specific applications - acetal, aluminium, brass, bronze, Delrin, nickel, nylon, 303 stainless steel, 17-4 PH stainless steel, 1095 steel, neoprene, polyurethane, polyethylene, sintered iron, rubber and moulded fibreglass.
