Simple seals for bearings can be the best

A SKF UK product story

With their metal sealing ring simply clamped to either the outer or inner bearing ring, Nilos rings cater for just about every type of grease lubricated rolling bearing sealing arrangement

Sometimes it is the simple things that make a huge impact: paper clips, cat's eyes and blu tack spring to mind.

So it is with Nilos sealing rings from SKF Engineering Products.

The range of Nilos rings caters for just about every type of grease lubricated rolling bearing sealing arrangement to significantly extend bearing life.

The metal sealing ring is simply clamped to either the outer or, preferably, the inner bearing ring, with the sealing lip making direct contact with the bearing face.

There are no other sealing media, such as leather, rubber or fibre, involved.

The shaft is only used as a concentric location when fitting and is not used as a sealing surface.

As the Nilos rings are made from very thin section material (typically between 0.3mm and 0.7mm thick), they can often be fitted without any need to alter the existing housing or machine design.

Nilos rings are suitable for most speeds and are available in sizes to suit most standard bearings.

A special Z type Nilos ring is also available to provide exceptional sealing, and therefore longer bearing life, in very dirty or damp conditions.

These seals are for use with Z or RS type bearings and are available for both inner and outer sealing.

A comprehensive range is available from stock from SKF Engineering Products.
