Safety shields for milling machines come
to UK

SKF Engineering Products has signed an agreement to become the UK distributor of the Finn Safety Systems range of protective screens and shields for a variety of equipment in the metalworking industry

SKF Engineering Products has signed an agreement to become the distributor of the Finn Safety Systems product range in the UK Finn Safety Systems is a leading Scandinavian manufacturer of protective screens and shields for a variety of equipment in the metal working industry

These safety systems perfectly complement SKF EPL's own linear and automation solutions for the metalworking and machine tool industry.

The Finn Safety Systems range includes two safety shields for milling machines, the JKS-185-1 and JKS-185-2.

The former shield is the smaller of the two, at 520 x 335mm, while the larger shield measures 820 x 420mm.

For larger machines the shield arrangement is mounted at the side of the milling machine, supported on a console or similar mounting.

The screen is attached to the machine's extension arm by a ball joint and can be secured at the required angle using a hand-operated lever.

The extension arm pedestal, which can be rotated, is fixed at the desired angle by a friction brake and the two joints of the extension arm are held in position by hydraulic cylinders.

By pressing the hand control the angle can be re-set.

Releasing the hand control locks the new setting.

The JKS-185-1 and 2 can both be retrofitted to any milling machine where operator protection is required.

Other shields in the Finn Safety range include a spark shield with built in halogen lamp for illumination and safety shields and spindle shields for drilling machines.

A protective shield for band drilling machines, a wood turning lathe shield and a turning operations shield complete the range. Request a free brochure from SKF UK ...
