Shaft Alignment Tools now come with
printer

SKF has introduced two options to its Shaft Alignment Tool range: the TMEA 1P, which comes with an in-built printer, and the TMEA 1Pex, an intrinsically safe version with a printer

Approximately 50% of breakdowns in rotating machinery are caused by the misalignment of shafts However, organised and implemented alignment of shafts can decrease downtime, mechanical degradation of components and energy consumption

As a result, SKF originally launched the Shaft Alignment Tool TMEA 1, a laser driven, shaft alignment tool, designed for use with high-speed machinery.

Now, SKF has introduced two further options: the TMEA 1P, which comes with an in-built printer, and the TMEA 1Pex, an intrinsically safe version with a printer.

The Shaft Alignment Tool TMEA 1 uses two measuring units, each housing a laser diode and a positioning detector, which are attached to the shafts.

As the shafts are rotated through 180deg, any parallel or angular misalignment causes the two beams to deflect from their initial relative positions.

Any misalignment of the shafts, and the resulting corrective adjustments which should be made to the machine feet, are automatically calculated and shown on the display unit.

The TMEA 1 is supplied with pre-printed alignment reports, which can be filled in manually.

Accurate alignment is further simplified by the TMEA 1 with the integration of spirit levels within the unit, on screen instructions and a basic set of precut SKF machinery shims for adjusting a machine's position.

With the Shaft Alignment Tool TMEA 1P, the operator can immediately document the alignment process using the lightweight thermal printer.

With printing of pre-alignment and post-alignment reports the operator can easily keep track of all alignment activities.

Shaft Alignment Tool TMEA 1PEx, the intrinsically safe version, provides the perfect alignment solution for hazardous areas, such as those found in the petrochemical industries, and has received the European Standard (CENELEC) intrinsically safe approval, classification EEx Ib IIC T4.

All the Shaft Alignment Tools can be provided with optional connection rods, measuring 320mm or 150mm, or a complete set of shims, and each is supplied in a sturdy carry case. Request a free brochure from SKF UK ...
