Mounting excitement over novel website
A new website, www.skf.com/mount, gives detailed instructions for mounting and dismounting of all SKF's major bearing types.
A new website, www.skf.com/mount, gives detailed instructions for mounting and dismounting of all SKF's major bearing types.
The software to create this versatile and powerful customer aid is unique to SKF, enabling the company to file for a patent.
This new website makes it possible to have a set of the latest SKF instructions, as long as an Internet connection is available.
This makes it particularly valuable for remote and offshore locations where fast and easy access can be made available via mobile or fixed computer links.
After entering the designation for the bearing into a menu and selecting the mounting and dismounting conditions, step-by-step instructions are collected from a database.
Specific data valid for the selected bearing can also be retrieved from the database or calculated online, such as tightening angle, drive-up distance, recommended tools, lubricants and other accessories such as housings.
Updates will be added to the site as they become available and the web address will be printed on all bearing boxes, so that operators have a direct reminder of the website address at their workplace.
In the first instance the website will be free to use, but will change later in the year to fee-based access.
