The ProofBox is a versatile, robust and environmentally friendly packaging solution for the transportation of large-size bearings.

The ProofBox is a versatile, robust and environmentally friendly packaging solution for the transportation of large-size bearings.

The ProofBox affords easier and safer handling and superior protection of bearings, with one of the main benefits being the prevention of false brinelling damage.

False brinelling is caused by excessive vibration and can cause pressure marks on the outer and inner rings of the bearing, caused by the rollers contacting against the rings in a vibratory motion.

Although most bearings are transported without false brinelling damage, this extra protection is further security for customers.

A damaged bearing may result in a shorter than expected life and, in applications such as the paper industry, can result in production shutdowns which can cost thousands of pounds per hour.

The SKF ProofBox is a stable and tightly sealed two-part box with two identical inserts, tailor-made for each bearing size.

When the box is closed and sealed, these inserts press tightly on the rollers and fix them in a static position to prevent any vibration or movement.

SKF ProofBox tolerates rough handling, is damp-proof and resistant to most chemicals.

There is no waste in terms of environmentally harmful and unwieldy packaging materials.

The initial bearings to be delivered in the new packaging are spherical roller bearings in the Explorer series of between 270-420mm diameter.
