To combat the mounting problems associated with large bearings, SKF has introduced the SensorMount system.

Mounting large bearings can be time consuming, often involving feeler gauges and specially trained personnel.

The process is costly and can be unreliable as the expansion of the inner ring is controlled indirectly by measuring axial displacement of the ring, rather than the expansion of the inner ring itself.

SKF SensorMount consists of a sensor integrated with the bearing, and a dedicated handheld indicator.

It allows large spherical roller and CARB bearings on tapered seatings to be mounted quickly and precisely.

As the system measures the exact expansion of the inner ring, the interface fit between the bearing and the shaft is accurately achieved.

As no complex calculations are required, the need for specially trained personnel is reduced, and the overall mounting process is faster, more reliable and cost-effective.

SKF's SensorMount is very simple and quick to use.

Using standard mounting tools, the bearing is placed on the tapered seating, and the hydraulic nut is mounted.

The SensorMount indicator can then be connected to the bearing flange, while the pump is connected to the hydraulic nut.

The clearance reduction can be directly checked on the SensorMount indicator after the pumping has started.

When the required clearance reduction has been achieved, the pressure can be released and the hydraulic nut can be dismounted.

The clearance reduction shown on the indicator is independent on how the bearing is mounted.

It makes no difference if the bearings are mounted on shafts or sleeves, or with shafts that are solid or hollow.

The SKF SensorMount is ideal for the heavy process industries such as pulp and paper, mining and mineral processing.
