More accuracy for deep-groove ball
bearings

Explorer DGBB deep-groove ball bearings provide substantial improvements in dimensional and, for most sizes, running accuracy.

Deep groove ball bearings (DGBB) are the latest addition to SKF's Explorer class - a new performance standard for rolling element bearings that provides a substantial improvement in the lifetime and performance of bearings The SKF Explorer DGBB provides substantial improvements in dimensional and, for most sizes, running accuracy

These improvements result in excellent noise and vibration performance, higher speed capabilities and longer life.

The design parameters for each of the bearing's components (rings, balls, cage, grease and seal when relevant) have been re-engineered with enhanced performance as the objective.

The re-engineering was only possible thanks to SKF's in-depth knowledge of tribology and lubrication in combination with analytical and modelling techniques supported by measurements and testing.

A specific and unique ball grade was also developed in addition to the application of new manufacturing techniques and inspection methods.

SKF's Explorer DGBBs also benefit from continuous improvement in the cleanliness of bearing steel.

In common with other SKF Explorer bearings, the increased dynamic load carrying capacity of the DGBBs enables either downsizing or upgrading the strength and performance of existing assemblies.

In other words, identical performance can be achieved with a more compact design - saving material and improving power density.

Smaller bearings also have a lower operating temperature and lower noise and vibration levels.

Deep groove ball bearings are the most widely used bearing type.

Examples of typical applications that can benefit from the enhanced performance offered by the SKF Explorer class include: electric motors; power tools; household appliances; automotive and industrial transmissions; agriculture and forestry machinery; material handling equipment; textile machinery; and printing machines.
