Couplings ease heavy equipment
connections

OK Couplings provide a simple solution to mounting and dismounting shaft couplings.

A range of shaft to shaft couplings from SKF can significantly reduce the time required to connect rotating shafts and flanges in heavy equipment, such as turbines, generators, and large gearboxes and motors OK Couplings provide a simple solution to mounting and dismounting shaft couplings

Operations that took hours or even days are reduced to a few simple steps.

The results include increased performance and service life for machinery, and, consequently, decreased maintenance costs.

The couplings incorporate a thin tapered inner sleeve, designed to fit over the shaft, and a thick outer sleeve, with a reverse taper matching that on the inner sleeve.

Conventional mineral oil is injected at high pressure between the mating surfaces and the outer sleeve is driven up the inner sleeve using an integral hydraulic jack.

Once correctly positioned, oil pressure is released and the resulting powerful interference fit enables high torques to be transmitted.

Unlike with conventional coupling processes, no shaft machining, keyways, or taper and thrust rings are necessary, and the use of heat is also no longer required.

Included in the range are OKF Couplings, for attaching a flange to a shaft end, and OKCK Couplings, for use in wind turbines.

All unit lengths and internal and external diameters can be supplied to customer specifications.

A range of dedicated installation tools are also available. Request a free brochure from SKF UK ...
