SKF Economos' new seals can be quickly and simply found with standard metal detection equipment should any small pieces fall into the product being processed.
Reliance on traditional moulded seals, which have to be batch manufactured using expensive tools with long lead times and then held in stock is an unnecessary and potentially added cost, says Paul Chambers, Economos' Sales and Marketing Manager.
"Our task at IFPEX is to persuade those manufacturers visiting it to take a fresh look at Economos and see how we can shorten development times, offer optimum sealing solutions using advanced materials and give true JIT deliveries".
"Evidence shows that some designers and buyers simply specify what they had used before, or follow catalogues just out of habit, because they feel it's less bother to do so, and they don't know about the alternatives.

But it's a habit which can not only seriously disadvantage them in their market but can also cost them money." As market leaders in providing hydraulic, pneumatic and a range of other seals and components to the oil exploration, petrochemical, nuclear, food and beverage and manufacturing industries, Economos say they are confident that visitors to the exhibition will be highly impressed with the seal technology their R and D division has specifically developed for fluid power applications, and particularly their range of class-leading polyurethanes.
Key to their success, say Economos, is their in-house developed CNC manufacturing system.
Economos can turn out seals of virtually any type and up to a staggering 4 meters in diameter, either as a prototype or in any size run, all without the need for expensive mould tools.
"Our seal manufacturing expertise can't be equalled," says Paul Chambers, "and Economos' materials scientists consistently come up with leading edge, high performance seal materials which outperform anything else.
