Schunk launches wedge clamping element

A Schunk Intec product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Sep 3, 2009

Schunk has launched the KSE 50 wedge clamping element that is said to provide a secure hold with high gripping forces when holding components for machining.

With chuck jaws arranged in an oscillating fashion, even workpieces with angled clamping faces can be securely held.

The active pull-down effect ensures that the workpiece is also pulled against the support and this reduces vibration during the machining process.

The wedge clamping elements are suitable for multiple clamping and two workpieces can be secured using a single wedge clamping element.

The maximum clamping force is 30kN with an angle compensation of +/-3deg with a height of 22mm.

The wedge clamping element can be used in combination with the Schunk Unilock clamping pallet.

The handling is user-friendly with a hexagon socket wrench that moves the chuck jaws outwards via a hardened clamping wedge.
