Separate fieldbuses avoid EMI and other problems
Thomas Kramer, Technical spokesman at the SafetyBUS p Club, discusses the arguments in favour of separate fieldbuses for safety and standard data.
The FC 300 VLT automation drive already has additional integrated safety functions.
The market demands an intelligent connection between safety engineering and automation in order to get a complete understanding of any problem.
From this it is possible to satisfy automation requirements and safe actuators are especially important.
A co-ordinated and fail-safe drive is now available which already has safety-related approvals.
Bi-directional communication through the safe bus system makes set-up, operation and diagnosis easier and users can quickly and simply implement functions such as safe operating stop or protection against restart.
The first products to these designs have been shown by Danfoss and the SafetyBUS p Club International on their respective exhibition stands at the Hanover Industry Fair 2005.
