Electric slide tables and actuators have wide uses

SMC Pneumatics have launched a new series of Electric Actuators, designated the LX and LG series, ideal for industries such as packaging, web converting and textile processing

SMC Pneumatics (UK) Limited have recently launched a new series of Electric Actuators, designated the LX and LG series.

This group of products is ideal for industries such as packaging where vertical/horizontal pouching and cartoning, tray packing, shrink-wrapping, labelling, dry and liquid filling and conveyor synchronisation operations are utilised.

Giving the benefits of no scrap during speed change, registration control, quick product changeover and fast processing of randomly arriving product.

In Web Converting these actuators can be applied to unwinding/rewinding, coating/laminating, die cutting, web merging, bag making, sheeting/stacking, and flexographic printing - with the benefits being precise tension control, fast response registration and variable ratio profiles.

Another area which is ideal for electric actuation is Textile Processing where a reduction in set-up time can be achieved, simple operator interfacing and the elimination of gears, cams and line shafts, as well as increased throughput and improved quality control.

Within Robotic Handling applications the user can achieve teach/learn programming and linear/circular interpolation.

The LX series electric slide tables (LXF, LXP and LXS) are low profile, compact and offer a stepper drive system (as standard) and short strokes.

Positioning repeatability is +/-0.03mm, with multi-positioning available.

In addition, there is a choice of motor types - 2-phase/5-phase with optional AC servomotor and horizontal and vertical orientation models.

Noise levels are from 50dB to 60dB maximum - strokes 25mm to 200mm - and depend upon which of the LX series is specified.

The LJ series employs a guide with high rigidity and high linear precision (repeatability at +/-0.02mm with a ground ball screw and +/-0.05mm with a rolled ball screw).

The unit is available either as a linear or slider guide with the latter achieving positioning repeatability of +/-0.1mm (slide screw).

Strokes of 100mm to 1500mm available, depending on type of LJ selected.

Two types of mounting are possible top or T-slot bottom and cables entry is possible from five directions - top, left, axial, bottom, and right.
