Electropneumatic positioner is better by design

A SMC Pneumatics (UK) product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Aug 5, 2005

A new electropneumatic positioner answers industry requests for even more precision in both linear and rotary actuator control.

During the last few years most engineers would agree that machines have generally become smaller, achieving better reliability with improved accuracy.

Following industry requests for even more precision in both linear and rotary actuator control, research and development teams from SMC Pneumatics have delivered what they reckon is a perfect solution in the shape of the Series IP8000/8100 electropneumatic positioner.

Designed for use in nonexplosive atmospheres, with either single or double acting actuators, this electronically controlled pneumatic positioner is also available with a current output option to allow remote position detection of the actuator.

Of course SMC is offering an ATEX certified version of this new series as well.

With improved visibility from its 43% larger gauges and with IP65 enclosure protection, this series of electropneumatic positioners uses the same mounting dimensions as SMC's conventional IP6000 range, making it a fully interchangeable option.

Available in either lever (IP8000) or rotary type (IP8100) feedback models, these positioners require input current between 4 and 20mA DC and air pressure of 0.14 to 0.7MPa.
