SMC unveils Series TUZ tubing range

A SMC Pneumatics (UK) product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team May 18, 2009

SMC Pneumatics has developed the Series TUZ tubing range to combat the problem of abrasion caused by continual energy-chain movement.

According to the company, plastic energy chains used in general machine applications are often referred to as the umbilical cords of modern machines.

However, according to some recent findings from SMC, this continual energy-chain movement can often lead to increased abrasion when using conventional polyurethane tube.

Series TUZ tubing has been developed for energy chains that help protect and convey cables, hoses and tubing for X, Y, Z, sliding and rotational-axis motions on machine tools, robots, material-handling equipment and industrial machinery.

Made from special polyurethane material, tests have shown that when used in a sliding application, the TUZ's wear resistance is increased by more than 66 per cent when compared to SMC's standard TU tubing range.

The TUZ range is available in six colour options, five tube sizes from an outside diameter of 4-12mm and a bending radius of between 10mm and 35mm, dependant on the selected tube size.

It is designed to work at pressures of up to 0.8MPa and at temperatures between -20C to +60C.

Series TUZ is suitable for use with SMC's One-Touch, Insert, Stainless Steel or Miniature Fitting ranges.
