Rectangular modular coupler is designed for railway applications, from high-speed trains to metros.

Hypertac has introduced a new rectangular modular coupler for railway applications, from high-speed trains to metros.

The Hypertac FH coupler connectors and jumpers interconnect the train vehicles, linking the power, signal and high speed transmissions from the front locomotive to the back of the train.

Based on the company's proven Hyperboloid contact technology, these shock and vibration proof contact systems eliminate fretting, and provide low contact resistance.

The Hypertac FH coupler features several innovations.

Its rectangular format offers a higher contact density than the traditional circular couplers, in a lower profile, housed within a highly ruggedised/corrosion resistant shell.

The module inserts can receive up to 420 signal contacts, and coax, triax, twinax and quadrax, as well as power contacts in low and high voltage configurations - current rating up to 650A and dielectric withstanding voltages up to 25kV.

The Hypertac FH coupler offers two possible locking systems: either a tightening by four screws or a lever assisted locking mechanism.

Both options ensure IP68 sealing and a perfect ground electrical continuity.
