Vibration monitoring equipment on show in Milan

A Sensonics product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Apr 28, 2005

Sensonics will feature aspects of its extensive range of turbine supervisory and vibration monitoring equipment in conjunction with local agent Belotti Sistemi at Power-Gen Europe 2005 in Milan.

Supporting its position as global players in the design, manufacture and supply of predictive maintenance systems, Sensonics will be featuring aspects of its extensive range of turbine supervisory and vibration monitoring equipment in conjunction with local agent Belotti Sistemi on Booth 15/K18 at Power-Gen Europe 2005 in Milan.

The Sensonics team will be on hand at the show to present information relating to a range of equipment designed to support the industrial power sector.

Visitors to the stand will be able to check out the Sentry machine protection system, a digital condition monitoring system designed to monitor vibration via input signals generated through eddy current probes, accelerometers and velocity transducers.

Other parameters, including temperature, displacement and pressure can also be monitored.

Sentry ensures that any fault is detected quickly and the resultant immediate shutdown prevents serious damage to both equipment and budget.

Sensonics will also be happy to discuss development relating to a much needed breakthrough in the condition monitoring of slow rotating machinery including wind turbines, where monitoring of a gearbox input shaft can have a frequency response requirement as low as 0.12Hz/7.2rev/min.

This service has been developed from the company's existing SP Series vibration sensor which has an 0.1Hz frequency response feature and was originally designed for monitoring seismic events.

For monitoring in hostile environments, the company will provide information on the compact but extremely robust PZHT3 high temperature sensor which will monitor temperatures up to 240C.

Supplying a wide range of high temperature accelerometers, Sensonics recently achieved equipment compliance to IEC61508 (SIL2) following the development of a high vibration monitoring system consisting of PZS4 accelerometers in combination with Aegis monitors and a complex voting rack assembly.

The company also provides specialist solutions for ATEX, remote, underwater and radiation applications and has been producing turbine supervisory measurement equipment together with general vibration and seismic monitoring products for nearly 30 years, providing the complete solution from bespoke to system design through to maintenance support.
