More support for miniature ball screws
Two new series of industry standard support bearing assemblies for the Steinmeyer miniature ball screw product line will be featured at Semicon West on Booth 5536.
In diameters ranging from an incredibly tiny 3 to 16mm and leads from 0.5 to 30mm, Steinmeyer ball screws are available with five standard nut types including: series 1112 cylindrical single nut with attaching thread; series 1214 compact cylindrical single nut with fitting key; series 1412 single nut with flange; series 1510 spring preloaded double nut; and series 2422, a new design for larger leads using a plastic end cap return to reduce noise.
All Steinmeyer nuts recirculate balls internally - that means no protruding tubes.
Thus they are more compact and operate smoothly even at high rotational speeds.
Ball nuts are available either with or without play.
Screws with play-free nuts are more rigid and exhibit excellent repeatability.
To eliminate play, single nuts are preloaded using oversize balls to achieve four-point contact.
All screw diameters are available as precision ground in accuracy grades ranging from T5 down to T0.
Diameters from 8 to 16mm are also available as rolled thread in accuracy grade T7 or T10, for less demanding applications.
The front section of the catalogue provides technical information including: how to select a ball nut based on desired service life; lubrication guidelines; mounting recommendations; and details on the various available accuracy grades.
The rest of the catalogue provides complete dimensional specifications, including dynamic and static capacity as well as idling torque.
A convenient flap on the front cover (that folds out for ease of use) gives step-by-step instructions on how to find information and compose the item number for trouble-free ordering.
Applications for miniature ball screws include semiconductor inspection and processing machines, fibre-optic alignment mechanisms, medical equipment, miniature robotic actuators, laser alignment tools, microscope stages and analytical equipment.
