SolidWorks Corporation has announced that BorgWarner Cooling Systems has selected SolidWorks as its company-wide engineering standard.

SolidWorks Corporation has announced that BorgWarner Cooling Systems has selected SolidWorks as its company-wide engineering standard.

BorgWarner Cooling Systems, a subsidiary of BorgWarner Inc (NYSE: BWA), will use over 50 seats of SolidWorks to design and manufacture its complete line of cooling systems for automotive, sport-utility vehicle, truck and off-highway equipment.

BorgWarner Cooling Systems manufactures air-sensing and coolant-sensing fan drives that can be mechanically or electronically controlled.

It also manufactures both metal and nylon fans and grille shutters.

After evaluating several other CAD packages, BorgWarner Cooling Systems chose SolidWorks for its strong modeling, drawing and animation capabilities, international language support, and wide range of data translation tools.

"We have been using several design tools within the organization and identifying a single standard was a necessity to ensure efficient collaboration between ten facilities in six countries," said David Hoskins, Project Engineer of BorgWarner Cooling Systems.

"SolidWorks was selected as the best overall solution based on our requirements." Hoskins continued, "BorgWarner Cooling Systems designs automotive components used in vehicle applications worldwide.

Our customers expect our parts to have a high level of quality, dependability and performance.

We expect those same qualities from our design solution.

We did an extensive analysis of available solutions on the market and SolidWorks outperformed all others.

SolidWorks will enable us to develop innovative products and meet the needs of our global customers." "We are pleased to be the partner of choice for BorgWarner Cooling Systems," said John McEleney, vice president of the Americas for SolidWorks.

"The ease-of-use, speed, performance and data translation capabilities of SolidWorks in concert with our local business partner Fisher/Unitech, will help BorgWarner Cooling Systems as they standardize their CAD operations." In addition to SolidWorks, BorgWarner Cooling Systems is using several SolidWorks add-on applications including FeatureWorks, feature-recognition software and PhotoWorks, photorealistic rendering software.

BorgWarner Cooling Systems is working with SolidWorks' reseller, Fisher/Unitech, for software solutions, implementation, training, and support for their Michigan locations.

About BorgWarner Chicago-based BorgWarner is a product leader in highly engineered components and systems for vehicle powertrain applications worldwide.

The company operates 60 manufacturing and technical facilities in 13 countries.

Customers include Ford, DaimlerChrysler, General Motors, Toyota, Caterpillar, Navistar, PSA and VW Group.
