SolidWorks Corporation has announced that Paper Converting Machine Company (PCMC) has selected SolidWorks software as its company-wide engineering standard.

SolidWorks Corporation has announced that Paper Converting Machine Company (PCMC) has selected SolidWorks software as its company-wide engineering standard PCMC has currently installed 20 seats of SolidWorks and will implement more than 200 seats over the next two years

The company will use SolidWorks to design and manufacture converting machinery for the flexible packaging, disposables, sanitary tissue, and non-wovens industries.

PCMC employs more than 2,000 people and is headquartered in Green Bay, WI.

The company has manufacturing and sales facilities throughout the U.S., England, and Italy with dedicated sales offices in Germany and Japan.

PCMC manufactures a wide variety of products from tissue rewinders and poly overwrappers to bag machines, printing presses, and surgical sponge folders.

Key customers such as Bemis, Kimberly-Clark, Georgia Pacific, Printpack, Procter and Gamble, FFP, SCA, and Fort James utilize PCMC designed equipment on a daily basis.

PCMC chose SolidWorks for its dedication to innovation, powerful assembly capabilities, and its large network of resellers providing local and global service and support.

"SolidWorks has a proven history of leading the CAD industry in terms of technological advancements and innovations, such as eDrawings and 3D Meeting," said Thad Perkins, Director of Engineering Support Services for PCMC.

"The software's powerful configuration capabilities, ease-of-use, and overall functionality outperforms any other CAD package we tested.

Additionally, the number of third party packages offered with a seamless interface to SolidWorks is second to none in the industry.

Simply stated, the product is both feature-packed and robust." Perkins continued, "Another key factor in our decision to use SolidWorks is that the software is taught in most of the surrounding colleges in our area.

When we hire new graduates or utilize contract services, the individuals are able to make an immediate contribution because they're already highly skilled in our CAD system." "PCMC is constantly rolling out new innovations in converting equipment, just as SolidWorks continuously introduces new advancements in CAD technology," said John McEleney, vice president of the Americas for SolidWorks.

"SolidWorks' intuitive interface and large assembly capabilities combined with PCMC's dedication to designing new products creates a winning team that delivers high-quality converting machines to customers faster." In addition to SolidWorks, PCMC is using several SolidWorks add-on applications including FeatureWorks, feature-recognition software, and CIMLOGIC's Toolbox/SE, design automation and drafting annotation software.

Since 1919, PCMC has designed and manufactured the finest converting machinery for the sanitary tissue, flexible packaging, and disposables/non-wovens industries.

The company has operations in the U.S., England, Germany, Italy, and Japan and employs over 2000 people.

Over the years, PCMC has been credited with many industry "firsts" that have helped to advance the state-of-the-art in converting technology.

PCMC will continue to provide customers worldwide with the best machinery to produce sanitary tissue, towel, and napkin products, printed flexible packaging, non-woven, and disposable products such as baby diapers, film, and foil products including wraps and plastic bags.
