Online catalogue helps US firm increase sales of motion control system tenfold by showing potential customers how the product will work in their designs.

Yet has boosted per-month sales leads tenfold via a 3D Partstream Net service-enabled electronic storefront that lets customers see how its motion control systems will work in their designs.

Customers can configure and download a 3D model or 2D drawing of the exact Yet motion control system to ensure it will effectively power their products.

Yet is a wholly owned subsidiary of Yaskawa Eshed Technology, a joint venture between Yaskawa Electric in Japan and Eshed Technologies in Israel.

These companies' combined expertise has provided Yet with servo motor technology that gives manufacturers precise motion control.

The control systems appear in various applications including semiconductor manufacturing equipment, medical equipment, packaging automation systems and robotics.

Precision is a must, and the system solves other technologies' problems of stopping a machine without overshooting the target.

"Compared to consumer product manufacturers, our sales cycles take months, and when you're competing against larger, more well-funded companies, you've got to be aggressive and creative", said Yet President Mark Bourgeois.

"The 3D Partstream Net service levels the playing field, acting as a virtual sales team by encouraging customers around the world to try our systems in their designs quickly and easily".

"That painless self-configuration is what helps Yet products get designed into customers' projects".

Bourgeois said sales leads had also increased from SolidWorks users around the world finding Yet products listed on SolidWorks' 3D Contentcentral web service, which provides an online directory of downloadable 3D CAD models.

3D Contentcentral is instantly available to a half million SolidWorks 3D mechanical design software users via a link within the SolidWorks window.

"Yet is a true David and Goliath story", said Bob Noftle, General Manager of 3D Content at SolidWorks.

"It has the advanced motion control technology to succeed, but its marketing challenges are significant in a crowded industry".

"The 3D Partstream Net service delivers the tools to make sure customers seeking precision motion control systems will find Yet".

The significant jump in sales leads in the first six months proves the online catalogue's success".
