Enclosures reduce panel height by half

A Spelsberg els UK product story

Spelsberg GTi enclosures give new cabling device the 'wow' factor and reduce panel height by 50%

A new compact cabling system developed by ACA-Apex for installing the myriad of communications cabling often found in small to medium sized offices has been designed around Spelsberg UK's modular-build GTi enclosures.

The result is a neat and compact unit that is both aesthetically pleasing and a flexible product solution.

Commenting on the use of Spelsberg's GTi Range for the innovative CMOS (Compact Mini Office System) cabling distribution units, Development Director Mike Wingrove said, "ACA-Apex selected Spelsberg as the enclosure supplier due to the flexibility of their GTi range.

The enclosures gave ACA-Apex the ability to design the CMOS in a unique form within a high quality and attractive enclosure which gives the product a bit of 'Wow factor' instead of offering a 'me too' product." All GTi enclosures contain internal strengthening and support points for the installation of components in a 25mm grid allowing Busbar holders, mounting plates, DIN rails, etc.

to be quickly and securely mounted.

The units also allow a variation in height by up to 75mm.

In the CMOS units these features are used to accommodate a new compact patch panel designed to fit the enclosure.

"Although there are other mini cable systems available on the market using half width 19inch 1U panels, the unique patent pending design of CMOS reduces the panel height by 50% allowing significant space saving" commented Mike Wingrove.

In the CMOS design, the main panel uses RJ45 and fibre optic sockets that allow each computer to communicate at high data transfer rates via a communications hub, switch or router and also incorporates a rear cable manager to secure the cables.

Through a large variety of interchangeable side-walls, GTi enclosures allow the CMOS units the flexibility in construction needed to cater for these specific cable system requirements.

Assembly of the enclosures is accomplished through the use of connection elements that slot-in, joining the side-walls to the enclosure frame.

This allows for quick and easy assembly of other options in the CMOS range, such as a front cable manager and a Fibre Optic patch panel.

The flexibility of the GTi system also means that custom panels are easily assembled to a client's specifications and the box integrity is easily maintained during any servicing.

Another advantage of this design is that the installation of the side-wall can be completed even with a fully stocked interior making pre-wiring and upgrades far easier.

When complete, a GTi assembly can offer sealing protection up to IP65.

GTi enclosures are manufactured using only high-quality, halogen-free glass-fibre reinforced polycarbonate, allowing the installation of switchboards according to IEC 439-1, DIN VDE 0660 Part 500 or DIN EN 60439 Part 1.

Enclosures are available in five sizes ex-stock from Spelsberg UK with a large range of interchangeable accessories.
