Enclosures and circuit breakers from Spelsberg UK have provided a complete outdoor installation solution for wiring pumps, lights and automatic feeders in Koi Carp pools

Enclosures and circuit breakers from Spelsberg UK have provided a complete outdoor installation solution for wiring pumps, lights and automatic feeders in Koi Carp pools.

Glass reinforced polycarbonate 'A-Box Nautic' units are used to house pump and lighting controls, giving effective protection while buried in the ground.

A combination of Spelsberg's AKII mini distribution boxes and industrial RCD circuit breakers also provide attractive and easy to use outdoor electrical safety protection.

Both amateur Koi carp enthusiasts and professional aquariums require reliable outdoor electrical systems to protect themselves and the lives of some highly valuable fish.

Water pumps operating 24hrs, supply the large quantities of fresh water needed to keep the Koi pools oxygenated.

However, un-housed electrical connections can fail or become dangerous when they are exposed to the elements for long periods of time.

Spelsberg have resolved this problem with their A-Box Nautic junction boxes, a range originally designed to overcome the extreme weather conditions and corrosion problems found in the shipping industry.

Many Koi pools are part of ever changing garden designs that may require much of the cabling and wiring to be buried for aesthetic purposes.

The bodies and lids of the A-Box Nautic enclosures are manufactured from a glass fibre reinforced polycarbonate material, giving protection against the elements above and below ground, as well as accidental impacts from gardening implements or machinery.

They are also UV light resistant, and will not corrode like metal alternatives.

As a result, these enclosures are ideal for housing wiring junctions that connect multiple outdoor devices such as pumps, lights and automated feeders.

The enclosures are designed for fast wiring and instant cable entry while still achieving IP65 ingress protection.

Flexible membranes in the sides of the enclosures provide an effective seal simply by pushing the end of a cable through.

A-box Nautic enclosures can be supplied empty or equipped with Spelsberg's new style "assembly friendly" terminals.

These meet the new European Standard and have CCA certification and international approval.

The terminals can easily be fixed in four different positions within the enclosure, allowing the terminals to be positioned to suit incoming cables and ensuring fast, simple installation.

Spelsberg's AKII range of distribution boxes are then used for safely connecting the outdoor systems to mains electricity supplies and housing the required circuit breakers.

Visual checking of the trip status is done through a hinged polycarbonate door that isolates the live wiring from the user.

The AKII range of enclosures also share the sealing features of the A-Box Nautic junction boxes, providing effective ingress protection and easy access while remaining aesthetically pleasing.

To complete the package, Spelsberg also supplies Kopp RCD's (residual current devices) that can be snapped onto the DIN rail inside the AKII unit.

The thermal tripping device used in the RCD module is a sensitive bimetal snap disc integrated into a magnetic trigger.

It can detect a short circuit or overload and break the failing circuit in less than 0.1 seconds, giving ultimate protection for owners and fish alike.

The 'A-Box Nautic' range comprises of six enclosures with cable termination capacities from 1 sq mm to 35sq mm.

To ensure flexibility, all six sizes are supplied with seven or more side knockouts and one in their base.

The AKII range of distribution boxes are available in nine sizes ranging from the AK03 Mini enclosure to the large AK70 unit that has five rows (of DIN rails), each with 150mm of rail space available.

Both enclosures allow for optimum use of installation space and can be used with screwed cable glands where incidental load on the cable or additional sealing is a consideration.

Spelsberg els UK offer the widest range of plastic enclosures ex-stock in the UK.

The headquarters are centrally located in Telford Shropshire ensuring that all items are ex-stock and can be delivered next day nationwide.
