The new tough polycarbonate E30 Fire Protection Hood from Spelsberg UK protects junction boxes and wiring by automatically sealing itself when exposed to heat.

The new E30 Fire Protection Hood from Spelsberg UK protects junction boxes and wiring by automatically sealing itself when exposed to heat.

The outer casing of the hood is made from a tough polycarbonate material that is both flame retardant and impact resistant.

The E30 allows vital safety shutdown systems to remain operational for a minimum of thirty minutes when subjected to extreme heat and fire.

If there is a fire or explosion in the industrial workplace, it is vital that lighting, sprinkler and shutdown systems remain functional.

By using Spelsberg's Fire Protection Hood to cover the connections in these electrical systems, junction boxes in affected areas remain operational, while the workplace is evacuated.

Safety systems are maintained during evacuation and operations that involve hazardous substances can be shut down or neutralised.

The E30 Protection Hood is as effective at maintaining essential services in an office environment as it is in manufacturing plants and mine applications.

In addition to safer evacuation conditions, more time is guaranteed for automatic computer backup procedures to be completed.

This is especially important in public buildings and offices where there can be vital computer systems as well as large numbers of people.

When the Protection Hood is exposed to flames or excessive heat, thermo-expanding pads seal the unit, protecting the junction box and wiring inside.

The replaceable pads are made from Purmox PA, a high resistance foam that fills the gap between the cables and the outer edge of the hood when the unit comes into contact with fire.

The E30 unit has a flame protection value to DIN VDE 0108 and when used in combination with Spelsberg's 'A-Box Nautic' range of weatherproof junction boxes, has protection to DIN 4102.

The E30 hood is made from an impact resistant polycarbonate and is supplied in one size only.

The unit is attached to the wall using four pegs inserted through external lugs, allowing the hood to cover junction boxes 140 x 140 x 79 mm or smaller and seal cables that are 2.5-10 mmę.

A combination of the E30 Protection Hood, fireproof cabling and Spelsberg's 'A-Box Nautic' junction box is a perfect solution for making a working environment safer.
