Spelsberg UK has launched an extended range of WKE fireproof junction boxes with models designed for more complicated distribution systems where 30 to 90min of fire protection is required.
Spelsberg UK has launched an extended range of WKE fireproof junction boxes with models designed for more complicated distribution systems where 30 to 90min of fire protection is required.
The new WKE 4 version is now available with integral eight-pole high-temperature ceramic terminals and the larger WKE 5 model with 15-pole terminals, making both enclosures ideal for cabling requirements on lift shafts, fire alarm installations and engine rooms.
According to national fire safety regulations, all wiring for critical safety systems such as building fire alarms and emergency lighting must operate for at least 30min when exposed to external fire.
Other systems such as water pressurising plants for the supply of extinguishing water, ventilators and lifts have to remain functioning for a minimum of 90min.
In both cases, Spelsberg's WKE range of flame resistant junction boxes provide guaranteed protection to DIN VDE and UL standards.
WKE enclosures are manufactured from orange (RAL 2004) halogen free Duroplast, which offers lower smoke emissions and an ingress protection IP54 to EN60529.
The units are now available in four sizes that range from 100 x 100 x 50mm to 256 x 171 x 106mm and come complete with heat resistant IP54 cable entry accessories.
Voltage protection ratings have also been increased to 690V for the new WKE 4 and 5 enclosures.
A version of the WKE 4 is available with integral five-pole high-temperature ceramic terminals as standard.
However, the new WKE 4 version is supplied with eight terminals and the WKE 5 has 15 ceramic terminals which enable easy fitting of larger conductors ranging from 1.5 up to 2 x 16 and 4 x 6mm2 per pole.
Ideal for fitting or refurbishing public buildings, commercial and industrial units, the WKE box enables emergency services including sprinkler systems, exit lights and general lighting to remain functional.
By allowing power supplies to be maintained for a minimum of 90min, operations that involve hazardous substances can also be shut down or neutralised and more time guaranteed for automatic computer backup procedures to be completed.
A combination of Spelsberg's easy-to-fit WKE series junction box and fireproof cabling is a perfect solution for making working environments and evacuation conditions safer.
