Higher IP ratings for enclosure range
Spelsberg's Red Range enclosures offer four design improvements that have made them tougher, more versatile and more aesthetically pleasing than previous designs.
Spelsberg's Red Range enclosures offer four design improvements that have made them tougher, more versatile and more aesthetically pleasing than previous designs As a result, the number of applications for which they are suitable has broadened to cover industries where washdowns occur, outdoor applications and office systems with visible cabling
Added benefits to the range include innovative self-sealing cable entries that can accept oval cables and each pack of enclosures comes supplied with a free punch to ensure fast and accurate installation.
The new Red Range has been designed to meet the widest number of demands from electrical installers as is practical for an entry level wiring junction box.
The new enclosures feature design innovations that have increased their flexibility in terms of ease of fitting and suitability for a broader range of applications with more flexible entry combinations, choice of colours and improved sealing, without an increase in price.
For example; to make installation easier in a wider range of application areas, Spelsberg has added new features such as a series of external lugs for easy fixing of the enclosures to cable routing tracks, trunking, square beams and poles using either cable ties or screws.
For neater and easier fitting, two extra knockouts have been added to the back of the unit, which can be manually opened using a knife to increase the number of cable entries available.
The new range also features the innovative 'Klickt' click-top system, which consists of extra ridges set into the box edge and adjoining lid surfaces to provide faster and more secure lid location.
A deeper recess in the lid also helps to increase the IP rating of the junction boxes from IP54 up to IP55.
This improvement makes the units impervious to low pressure water jets, allowing them to be used in clean environments such as those found in the food industry and processing lines where exposure to wash downs may occur.
Other suitable applications include outdoor junction boxes for electrical installations where they are exposed to the elements as well as general industrial buildings.
The tough halogen-free thermoplastic construction does not produce harmful gases when exposed to fire, it is resistant to accidental knocks and has also passed both the UL94V2 flammability and 960C glow wire tests.
These safety levels make the units ideal for fitting in offices and public areas and the fact that they are available in three standard colours (grey, white and red) means they will suit a wide range of decors.
More colours are available on request and to further improve the aesthetic appeal of the units, the old front panel design has been superseded by the popular 'A' box facia.
The new lid design displays the fact that the enclosures are VDE approved and their IP rating for increased safety in communal circuits and a textured panel has been inserted for clear and secure labelling.
There are four new models ranging from the IP54 Mini 25 junction box (89 x 43 x 37mm), to the top of the range i16 with its 16 self-sealing entries and the ability to seal oval cables, such as data lines, as well as conduit.
To ensure the best possible seal, a punch is included with every pack of Red Range enclosures.
In addition, both the seven and the twelve entry boxes can be supplied with 2.5mm2, five-pole terminal blocks. Request a free brochure from Spelsberg els UK ...
