A series of six new low-cost modular distribution boxes can be connected in a virtually limitless number of configurations.

A series of six new low-cost modular distribution boxes can be connected in a virtually limitless number of configurations.

By manufacturing the range from polystyrene and supplying terminals as separate accessories, Spelsberg has been able to significantly reduce the cost of the units while maximising flexibility.

Sealing to IP54 and offering up to 58 knockouts per box, the AKe range offers electricians and systems designers the ideal solution for building reliable distribution boxes, quick and easily, on or off site.

Responding to customer demands for more versatile and less costly distribution boxes, Spelsberg has created a six strong series of AKe boxes, with 3 to 36 way capacities and proportional side dimensions for multiple assembly options.

"More traditional configurations were often one module short or had one too many", explains Graham Fox, Managing Director of Spelsberg UK.

"So we developed the new AKe range of distribution boxes which provide more room for modules and are more economic in terms of space, accessories and fabrication".

By manufacturing the range from polystyrene and supplying PE/N terminals as separate accessories, purchase costs have been significantly reduced and made them more suitable for refitting old systems up to 440V.

All the enclosures in the range feature 35mm DIN rails, covers, marker strips with insulating seals and entry spouts that provide sealing protection up to IP54.

The mini AKe 3 is smallest in the range (100 x 150 x 96mm) and offers six M20 knockout entries, a three-way capacity and space for twin four-pole terminal blocks.

At the other end of the range, the AKe 36 box is a 36-way unit, 600mm high with 150mm rail distance and a dual 17-pole capacity.

Its proportional dimensions and 58 knockouts (sized from M20-M32) allow compatibility with the other enclosures in the range and distribution boards to be easily extended at a later date.

All enclosures are available empty, or a complete range of accessories is available either separately or ready fitted.

Enclosures can also be supplied with bespoke entries, engraved corporate logos or fitted terminals within 48h.

Spelsberg reckons it has the largest range of ex-stock plastic enclosures available in the UK and its Telford headquarters is centrally located to provide immediate access to technical support and next day delivery on all standard items.
