A GBP 650,000 investment has been made in new CNC machinery and training by SG Transmission, one of three new brands under the Stephenson Gobin banner.

A GBP 650,000 investment has been made in new CNC machinery and training by SG Transmission, one of three new brands under the Stephenson Gobin banner The investment in new Mazak milling and turning centres has been supported with a grant from OneNorthEast for the retraining of the company's programmers

The two state-of-the art machines have been acquired to further increase efficiency and capacity for machining components for electromagnetic clutches, brakes and electromagnets.

The machines combine several machining functions into one operation which will produce savings, reduce cycle times and achieve shorter setup times.

SG Transmission has also introduced a continuous improvement programme called "Engineering Intervention".

Nissan engineering specialists are helping with analysis and assessment.

The company has also upgraded its 3D modelling system with the installation of three seats of SolidWorks software which can be linked to the Mazak machines.
