Sortimat Protos Automation has recently produced a novel dual-function feeder.

Sortimat Protos Automation has recently produced a novel dual-function feeder The customer's primary requirement was for feeding and orienting semi-assembled pen tips to an assembly machine at a rate of 150 per minute

The semi-assembled tips comprised the pen tip with its plastic housing, and the secondary design criterion for the feeder was to segregate any plastic housings that did not contain pen tips.

The orientation device was designed such that only good pieces were allowed to pass through and loose plastic housings were taken off on separate path for collection into the rejection bin.

A 280mm cylindrical type of feeder was used for this particular application.
