Innovation award won by pump ranges that have let their manufacturer capitalise on niche sectors including the chemical, pharmaceutical and petrochemical industries for rapid growth.

The 2005 Frost and Sullivan Product Differentiation Innovation Award has been presented to SPX Process Equipment Bran + Luebbe in recognition of its innovative product line Announcing the award, Frost and Sullivan cited the Bran + Luebbe Novaplex and Novados pump ranges as examples of innovation and which have let the company capitalise on niche sectors including the chemical, pharmaceutical and petrochemical industries for rapid growth

The product differentiation has benefited the chemical, oil and gas sectors, resulting in a positive impact on SPX PE's business, meeting the requirements of operating security and product quality.

The ability to stay with current technologies, providing different facilities and new features in the product with the existing hardware, customised software and affordable cost has contributed to the firm's emergence as a force in the intelligent pump control market.

The launch of such products has helped the company gain momentum in expanding its business.

According to Frost and Sullivan, it is these cumulative factors that have made Bran + Luebbe a recipient of the award.

"Most competing intelligent pump systems are centrifugal in nature and have limited use in many processes across the chemical, oil and gas as well as pharmaceutical sectors", said Frost and Sullivan Research Analyst Srinivasan Gomatam.

"In contrast, Bran + Luebbe's intelligent positive displacement pumps have been designed to handle the variations in fluid viscosity through dynamic control of process parameters with their revolutionary design and integration, thus helping in the effective handling of abrasive and corrosive liquids".

"The company aims to achieve a higher market share than its competitors by offering better product in the matured pump market".

"Bran + Luebbe provides maximum flexibility to customers in terms of design, energy saving and high operational security, which has spurred wide customer acceptance".

Frost and Sullivan said this was evident from the market share held by the SPX PE in the growing intelligent pumps market, accounting for 7.1% of the intelligent pump systems in oil, gas and petrochemical sectors and having a 4.1% share in the chemical and pharmaceutical industries in 2005.

Rising demand from the oil, gas, chemical and pharmaceutical sectors will support the success of these pumps.

"The ability to keep abreast of current technologies as well as provide different facilities, new product features with the existing hardware and customised software at affordable cost has contributed to Bran + Luebbe's emergence as a major participant in the intelligent pump control market", said Gomatam.

"The launch of products such as the Novaplex and Novados, as well as the remote diagnostics system Novalink, has helped the company gain momentum in expanding and strengthening its competitive position".
