Mobile Electro Services Ltd (MES) of Bromsgrove has been named 'Distributor of the Year 2000' by leading DC drives manufacturer Sprint Electric.

Mobile Electro Services Ltd (MES) of Bromsgrove has been named 'Distributor of the Year 2000' by leading DC drives manufacturer Sprint Electric Last year was also MES' 25th anniversary, so the prestigious award from Sprint has made it a double celebration

The company was originally formed in 1975 as the service, commissioning and repair arm of UK drives manufacturer KTK, but went independent after five years.

MES Managing Director and co-founder Roger Astley said: "We agreed to separate the businesses so that MES could work for a range of drives manufacturers.

Now, 20 years on, we are proud to have been named Sprint Electric's Distributor of the Year." Sprint Electric was set up in 1987, and soon appointed MES as a distributor and systems integrator.

MES covers the whole of the UK from its offices in Bromsgrove, Worcestershire, and also supports OEM customers around the world.

"Our work is split fairly evenly between end-users and OEMs, and we will go anywhere, anytime to provide our customers with service and repair support," says Mr Astley.

In addition to the design, engineering and commissioning of complete drives systems, MES provides a 24 hour emergency service covering drives, PLCs and related controls.

The company stocks a wide range of Sprint drives, enabling it to rapidly replace or retrofit damaged or obsolete equipment with the latest in DC drives technology.

Sprint Electric introduced the annual Distributor of the Year award to encourage its distributors to monitor and improve customer service and develop sales.

Performance is reviewed quarterly and a number of factors are taken into consideration.

These include maintaining an appropriate level of product stocks, quality of technical support, monitoring the success of marketing initiatives and targeting sales growth.

Gary Keen, Sprint Electric Marketing Manager, says: "The award is now in its fourth year, and we are very pleased with its impact on customer service.

We demand high service levels from our distributors to match the quality of our products, and MES put in an outstanding performance over the year.".
