Solartron ISA's DualStream ll intelligent wet gas meter has won the Worshipful Company of Scientific Instrument Makers' Annual Achievement Award for 2001-2002.
Solartron ISA's DualStream ll intelligent wet gas meter has won the Worshipful Company of Scientific Instrument Makers' Annual Achievement Award for 2001-2002.
The award is made by the City of London livery company for outstanding contributions to British scientific instrument making in "...research, design, development, new applications and techniques or any meritorious efforts in the field of scientific instrumentation".
To qualify for the award, instruments must be technologically innovative and represent a significant advance in their field.
They must also be demonstratively commercial.
Solartron ISA's DualStream II is the world's first wet gas meter capable of providing real-time gas and liquid flow rates in a single instrument.
It offers cost-effective flow measurement of liquid and gas fractions without the need for on-going well testing, and is ideal for well management and allocation monitoring, particularly in marginal or remote fields.
Developed in conjunction with Advantica Technologies (formerly BG Technology), and launched in November last year, DualStream II is based on a differential pressure flow measurement.
The instrument is innovative because it uses new algorithms based on the Murdock correction technique to estimate the gas mass fraction (GMF).
The Deputy Master of the Worshipful Company of Scientific Instrument Makers, Rear Admiral John Hilton presented the award to Allan Imrie, Managing Director of the Solartron Group at a dinner held at the Livery Hall in the City of London on 30th January 2002.
Past winners of this high-profile award, which has been established for 35 years, include EMI, Oxford Instruments and Renishaw plc.
