High-pressure seal replaces O-ring and
backup
Cover Seal is a one-piece double-acting polyurethane compact seal designed to provide static sealing for rods and pistons in hydraulic or pneumatic systems at operating pressure levels abovve 5MPa.
Cover Seal is a one-piece double-acting polyurethane compact seal designed especially to provide static sealing for rods and pistons in hydraulic or pneumatic systems at operating pressure levels above 5MPa Its impressive extrusion and deformation resistance properties make the Cover Seal suitable for sealing high operating pressures of up to 60Mpa, even at very high pressure build-up speeds such as those which occur when dampening end positions

Seal performs under pressure
Simrit's special PPS premium pressure seal Simmerring was developed for sealing shafts in aggregates that are characterised by high system pressure.
Complete piston cuts down on parts
According to Freudenberg, the pneumatic complete piston Pneuko M sets new standards in terms of durability and frictional behaviour.
Even when depressurised, excellent sealing effects are also achieved as a result of the defined line of concentrated radial force at the sealing edge.
In accordance with DIN3771-T5, the Cover Seal is designed for a b2 installation area, which is defined for O-rings with backup rings, and has far superior extrusion and deformation resistance properties when compared to traditional solutions.
It can easily be adapted to suit a given housing.
The Cover Seal profile ring sits perfectly in the installation area.
The two defined supporting edges ensure stable support in the groove base.
This counteracts flexing movements or rotation, which occur with sealing rings when pressure levels change, and the spiral-like turning of the sealing ring during assembly.
No additional tension builds up in the sealing material and the material structure remains undamaged.
The Cover Seal can be used in any application in which an O-ring/backup- ring combination was used in the past.
In addition, thanks to the Cover Seal's more favourable extrusion and deformation resistance properties and its stable support in the groove base, it can be used for a broader range of applications and meets much stricter requirements than were possible with its predecessor.
This means that Cover Seals can also be used in excavator cylinders, which are typically subjected to heavy loads.
During operation, pressure peaks of up to 60MPa can build up as a result of external loads exerted on the excavator cylinder.
Such loads are, for example, exerted when a full excavator shovel is rocked while the machine is in motion or when it is shaken.
In the past, the tube expansion caused by such loads was often too much for the static sealing capabilities of the O-ring and backup-ring combination.
The Cover Seal, however, is able to withstand such peak loads as a result of its improved ability to bridge gaps.
