According to Freudenberg, the pneumatic complete piston Pneuko M sets new standards in terms of durability and frictional behaviour.

According to Freudenberg, the pneumatic complete piston Pneuko M sets new standards in terms of durability and frictional behaviour Using this complete piston reduces the number of components from five to just one

The advantages for the user: the piston simplifies design, operations planning, procurement, storage, assembly, quality assurance and, in doing so, cuts costs.

The universally applicable pneumatic complete piston Pneuko M consists of two main carrier elements into which two Polyurethane pneumatic seals with integral fixed dampers, a guide strip and a magnet for position determination, are integrated as standard.

A spring cavity for single-acting installations is also provided.

The sealing lips of the pneumatic seals have been optimised to suit varying loading conditions by ensuring low friction and increased sealing effect.

The guide strip allows this complete piston to be used in applications characterised by high side loads.

With the help of structural calculation models, Merkel Freudenberg succeeded in reducing development times and optimising the shape of the sealing lips.

Extensive field tests with the new pneumatic complete piston confirmed the results produced by the FEM model.

An indication of the quality of pneumatic seals is the leakage which occurs after a specific number of kilometres.

No leaks were noted after 6000km.

Nor did Pneuko M show any noteworthy signs of wear after this distance.

In order to attain worthwhile results with regard to starting friction, a direct comparison was made with a VDMA piston fitted with two U-rings.

Results showed lower starting friction for the Pneuko M.

The Pneuko M's extremely low starting friction is, primarily, the result of: the shape of the sealing lip, which has been optimised to ensure low friction, and the outstanding qualities of the polyurethane (PU) material.

Pneuko M's running friction also remained at a constantly low level for the entire duration of these tests.

With the development of the pneumatic complete piston Pneuko M, Merkel Freudenberg has significantly expanded the technical possibilities for complete pistons in the field of pneumatics.

Pneuko M is ideal for both short-stroke and long-stroke cylinders.

The combination of a recently developed PU mixture as sealing material and an optimised sealing shape improved the piston's wear and frictional behaviour.
