High-pressure seal replaces O-ring and backup
Cover Seal is a one-piece double-acting polyurethane compact seal designed to provide static sealing for rods and pistons in hydraulic or pneumatic systems at operating pressure levels abovve 5MPa.
A total of Eur 15 million will be invested in the project and its technical infrastructure thereby giving a major boost to innovation and development.
The Technical Development Centre's measurement and testing facilities are already located nearby.

Seals can be adapted for individual applications
Freudenberg has succeeded in developing a Simmerring for industrial applications which combines the properties of both PTFE and elastomer materials.
This will help us increase efficiency and improve our customer orientation.
It will also reinforce our reputation as the technology specialist", says Jorg Sost, Chairman of the Board of Management at Freudenberg Dichtungs- und Schwingungstechnik.
"The fact that our sales employees for the automotive and components-supplying industries will be in the same building as the developers will guarantee close co-operation.
It will also ensure that we come up with innovations that exactly meet our customers' requirements".
Employees and customers from various sectors of general industry can attend training courses at the Simrit Academy.
The fact that the academy's rooms are located in such close proximity to the new building means that course participants can learn all about the Technical Development Centre while in Weinheim.
With its ground-breaking innovations, Freudenberg Dichtungs- und Schwingungstechnik's Technical Development Centre paves the way for the long-term growth of this pan-European company.
The Technical Development Centre works hand in hand with the company's business areas and lead centres.
In addition to developing new products, it also improves existing products by developing additional benefits for the customers.
Projects are currently being developed in many sectors, including encoder and sensor technology, high-precision seals based on liquid elastomers and sealing and vibration control system designs for construction and agricultural machinery.
Freudenberg Dichtungs- und Schwingungstechnik is the technology specialist and, as such, spearheads innovations for customers in the automotive and general industry.
The key to the company's success lays in its broad range of products, comprehensive palette of services and close co-operation with its sister companies NOK, Japan and Freudenberg-NOK, USA.
The new building will comprise a technical hall measuring approximately 2500m2, which will be directly connected to the Technical Development Centre's test building, and a four-story administrative building with approximately 4000m2 of office space.
In addition to a foyer, the first floor will house large conference halls and the Simrit Academy.
