A novel custom manifold block (CMB) provides extra safety and improved brake performance for agricultural trailer applications.

A novel custom manifold block (CMB) provides extra safety and improved brake performance for agricultural trailer applications Working closely with the customer, and drawing on Sterling Hydraulics' experience to provide a solution involving circuit design, application experience, manifold design and engineering expertise, Sterling engineers have used standard Sterling cartridge valves in a unique CMB configuration that includes: accumulators, filter and pressure switches as specified by the customer; solenoid poppet valves, normally open and normally closed, and rated up to 200 litre/min at 350 bar; and nonreturn valves with a minimal leakage rated to 150 litre/min at up to 420bar

All the parts were designed by Sterling Hydraulics in the UK or in Chicago, USA, using specialised CAD software and manufactured using CNC machining centres.

Sterling Hydraulics manufactured this particular CMB from zinc-plated steel, but also has the capacity to manufacture CMBs in aluminium, anodised for corrosion protection and generally suited to applications below 210bar, and in cast iron for pressures up to 420bar.
