The University of California at Los Angeles will incorporate 10 seats of Cosmos/M into its Interdepartmental Program of Biomedical Engineering as part of a new biomechanics laboratory

Structural Research and Analysis has announced that the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) will incorporate 10 seats of Cosmos/M into its Interdepartmental Program of Biomedical Engineering.

As part of a new biomechanics laboratory that he is setting up at UCLA, Dr Michael Kabo plans to utilize the software by having students take the geometrical properties of a chicken bone and use the model they create to parametrically exercise the variables in their experiment.

The goal is to determine the effects on the cross sectional stress distribution.

According to Dr Kabo, "Cosmos/M will serve as the analytical companion to their experiments." "Today's engineering students will design tomorrow's technological advances," said Suchit Jain, VP of Marketing for SRAC.

"UCLA is one of the world's most preeminent medical research facilities, and we are very pleased that they have selected Cosmos/M on which to train the biomechanical engineers of the future.

The use of FEA in the medical design field will give the students new insights and allow them hone the skills they'll bring to the post-graduate workplace." Used by thousands of companies worldwide, Cosmos/M, offers a range of analysis capabilities, including modeling, meshing, stress and buckling, nonlinear, thermal, fatigue and design optimization.

Its latest version, Cosmos/M 2.7, includes improvements on Pre- and Post-processing, linear and thermal analysis, and Advanced Computational Fluid Dynamics.
