FEA software proves popular with universities

During the first ten months of 2003, some 14 universities worldwide purchased CosmosDesignStar as their tool of choice for classes in finite element analysis (FEA) instruction.

During the first ten months of 2003, some 14 universities worldwide purchased CosmosDesignStar as their tool of choice for classes in finite element analysis (FEA) instruction.

Universities employing CosmosDesignStar to educate engineers include University Du Quebec in Canada; University PandM Curie in France; Technical University of Denmark; Czech Technical University in Prague; Osaka University; Tokyo Medical and Dental University; and Asahikawa National College of Technology - all in Japan; Kazan State Technical University and Bauman State Technical University, both in Russia; and additional educational facilities in South Korea, the Republic of China, the UK and the USA.

"Educators report that they find CosmosDesignStar to be a powerful design analysis tool, as well as one that helps them teach students through its ease of use and ability to work with a wide variety of popular CAD systems", said Ramesh Ramalingam, product manager for Cosmos.

"The program is available in French, German, Japanese, and traditional Chinese versions, making it even easier to use in technological centres worldwide".

CosmosDesignStar is a multi-CAD analysis tool that helps design engineers and expert analysts alike detect potential design problems quickly and correct them before beginning prototype production, saving companies the time and expense of post-production fixes.

In use in some 2000 companies, CosmosDesignStar is fully associative with Autodesk Inventor, and Solid Edge, and can also read geometry files from other popular solid modelling programs such as Catia, Pro/Engineer, Cadkey and Ideas.
