Synergis Software is shipping a new version of its award-winning engineering document management solution, Synergis Adept.

Synergis Software is shipping a new version of its award-winning engineering document management solution, Synergis Adept Tightly integrated inside each design application, Adept's document management tools provide AutoCAD 2005, Autodesk Inventor 8 Series, Autodesk Inventor Professional 8 and SolidWorks 2004 users the ability to find and manage data, ensure revision control, and control access to information on a LAN, WAN or the Internet

The new release also features shared work areas, a new real-time design and collaboration environment, as well as other customer-requested features that enhance performance and productivity.

"With the tremendous pressure to reduce development time and costs across all industries, Adept 5.2 helps engineers collaborate and communicate more effectively during the work in progress stage of design", said David Sharp, President of Synergis Software and CEO of Synergis Technologies.

"Adept now provides a flexible design environment where multiple people can work simultaneously on the same design and share design changes.

Designers will be better able to interpret and incorporate design changes and eliminate duplicate work".

Delivering on its strategy to provide powerful document management solutions that are simple to use and maintain, Synergis Software works closely with its customers to identify, prioritise, and then develop new capabilities.

Beta test customers of Adept 5.2 have been responding enthusiastically to the new version.

"The new shared work areas feature in Adept 5.2 combines the power of document management with flexible project control from conception to completion", said Dave Anderson, CAD Supervisor at Ferrotec (USA) Corporation, Nashua, New Hampshire.

"Adept's Shared Work Areas creates a real time collaborative environment, where designers, engineers and manufacturers - whether they are in-house or in a manufacturing plant in China - can edit and approve work-in-progress drawings much faster.

With Adept, we have reduced the number of project revision cycles and greatly increased our turnaround time".

Synergis Adept 5.2 includes new functionality that addresses the continuing need for more sophisticated data management tools.

Advancing faster design review and communication, Adept 5.2 allows multiple designers to access the same work-in-progress area, where quick changes can be made and reviewed by any member of the shared work area.

Synergis Adept 5.2 will give customers the ability to view, track, revise, and manage documents created with the latest AutoCAD release.

Adept automatically extracts attributes, xrefs, and thumbnails of AutoCAD 2002 through 2005 files.

Support for sheet sets is planned for a follow on release.

When running Inventor 8 and higher with Adept 5.2, Inventor software's model browser now includes a drop-down menu for Adept, which displays Adept's relationship tree inside the Inventor browser window.

Adept makes it easy to locate, sign out, identify the status of, and edit models in place, while maintaining the integrity of all inter-relationships between parts, assemblies, and drawings.

Adept 5.2 now supports Inventor software's Cable and Harness and Tube and Pipe applications.

When creating a tube and pipe assembly, Adept automatically gathers all the components together and places them in an Adept work area, where a user has complete control over where the components are saved.

All standard tube and pipe components are handled by Adept and automatically signed into the Adept piping library.

Adept 5.2 software includes an updated version of its Cimmetry AutoVue 2D/3D viewer, which enables users to view AutoCAD 2005 DWG, Inventor 8 IDW, and Autodesk DWF files.

The Adept viewer extends a company's ability to collaborate with project teams, contractors and customers over a LAN, WAN or across the Internet.

"We are committed to keeping pace with the latest versions of our strategic CAD partners, while providing the essential, detailed enhancements our customers request", said Joe Gasper, Director of Adept Technical Services.

"Adept 5.2 addresses the needs of both new and long time users who require a flexible, cross-CAD platform solution".
