Synergis Software has begun shipping its Synergis Adept 6 engineering document management (EDM) solution.

Synergis Software has begun shipping its Synergis Adept 6 engineering document management (EDM) solution.

The new version includes over 55 enhancements and is the company's most significant release since 1997.

Adept 6 software offers new SQL database support including MySQL Classic 4.1, Oracle 9i and MS SQL to manage and track documents of any type in small, medium and large corporate environments.

Offering the industry's best value, Adept 6 includes a free copy of the commercial version of MySQL (a retail value of $595) out-of-the-box.

Other new features in Adept 6 include: advanced workflow to further automate business and approval processes inside engineering and other departments; major/minor versions to provide easy storage, retrieval and tracking of incremental versions; and inherited rights to visualise and assign rights to Adept libraries in an Explorer type tree structure.

In addition, Adept 6 supports leading CAD and office applications including: AutoCAD versions 2004, 2005 and 2006; Autodesk Inventor versions 9 and 10; Autodesk Inventor Professional versions 9 and 10; Archibus; Adobe PDF files; and bidirectional document property updating for Microsoft Word and Excel 2003.

Adept 6 support for SolidWorks versions 2005 and 2006 will be available next month.

Some of the industry's most demanding companies have beta tested Adept 6 and are excited about the benefits its new functionality will bring to their organisations.

"The entire migration of our Adept 5 database to MySQL was easy and took less than an hour".

"We've been using it in production from the start", said Brian Baylor, Network Administrator, Theatre Solutions, a Quakertown-based designer and producer of superior theatre seating for such prestigious venues as Lincoln centre and the Kodak Theatre.

"Once Adept is set up, it runs on its own".

"The value Adept brings to Ferrotec is the ability to engineer and design in the States and manufacture in China", said Rob Blinn, IS Manager, Ferrotec, a leading designer and manufacturer of vacuum feedthroughs, magnetic liquid, thermoelectric and other products, which are used in the processing of silicon wafers and raw materials.

"Adept allows us to collaborate across the organisation so everyone is building accurately to the customer's requirements".

"Because we are an Oracle shop, Adept 6 is how we will achieve our goals of sharing data with other remote locations and our MRP system".

"With Adept 6's new batch copy and rename feature we can easily, copy and rename existing Inventor parts and assemblies to create new 3D models and ensure that all parent/child relationships are maintained", stated Dave Breiner, Supervisor, Drafting and CADD, Alstom Power, a world leader in the manufacture of steam condensers for the power industry.

"Adept has evolved over the past 18 years to provide more flexibility and scalability for our customers", said Todd Cummings, Director of Research and Development, Synergis Software.

"Whether it's a small or medium size firm that needs to manage their engineering data in house or with remote offices, or larger organisations that need a way to kick start an enterprise PLM initiative to integrate with other systems, Adept is a proven first step for managing and controlling data and engineering business processes".

Synergis Adept 6 continues to be the best value for engineering document management.

Adept 6 lists at SRP US $1095 per concurrent licence and annual subscription is US $219 per concurrent licence.

Customers who select the MySQL version of Adept will receive a free commercial licence of MySQL (a retail value of $595).

Upgrade pricing is also available.
