Easier access to complex technical software
The latest version of the EASA (Enterprise Accessible Software Applications) package provides substantial improvements in its ability to provide simplified access to complex technical software.
"The food sector is traditionally resilient in difficult times, and we're certainly seeing that at the moment," says SSI MD Trevor Lewis.
"During the last four months of 2001, SSI signed contracts to supply business-critical solutions to a variety of food sector companies, including Rayner Food Group, Cauldron Foods, Sundora Foods, Kernels Snack Products, Burn Stewart Distillers and Arkady Craigmillar.
We are also extending the use of our systems in existing clients such as Adams Pork Products.
These companies are joining a user base that includes manufacturers such as St Ivel, Ashworths Foods and Saxbys Foods.
And 2002 has begun well for us, with Morrison Bowmore Distillers going live on our systems.
Our class-leading Tropos fast-response solution is now one of the strongest products available for food and beverage manufacturers who want to guarantee regulatory compliance and provide their customers with quality products, faster and cheaper." Tropos allows the user to plan manufacturing and distribution around an accurate model of the production process.
This is especially crucial for food manufacturers, who often need to add ingredients to a product with split-second precision, and don't want those ingredients to be called off from suppliers or stores any earlier than is absolutely necessary.
"Tropos also offers the most powerful integrated quality and traceability functionality of any comparable ERP solution," says Lewis.
"Given the level of public concern over food quality, this functionality is essential for any food producer." Nowhere is this public concern more evident than in the explosive growth of the organic food market.
Organic producers have to provide reams of documentation showing their food has not been exposed to banned chemicals.
So SSI is currently working with Britain's leading organic food regulator, the Soil Association, to provide a solution for large and small organic producers alike.
"We believe our quality and traceability functionality is of tremendous value for organic producers," says Lewis.
