Olsen set for space adventure

Gregory H Olsen, cofounder and Chairman of the Board of Sensors Unlimited, is scheduled to become the world's third private space explorer.

Gregory H Olsen, cofounder and Chairman of the Board of Sensors Unlimited, is scheduled to launch for the International Space Station (ISS) at 1654 BST on 30th September 2005 on the Soyuz TMA-7 orbital spaceflight mission from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan.

Dr Olsen's launch and return landing will be covered by NASA TV.

An advanced technology pioneer and renowned entrepreneur, Dr Olsen is confirmed by Space Adventures to be the world's third private space explorer and the first space tourist since the Columbia tragedy.

While in flight, Dr Olsen plans to conduct remote sensing and astronomy research projects incorporating Sensors Unlimited's short-wave infra-red (SWIR) imaging technology.

A live webcast from the International Space Station will begin on 3rd October 2005, and can be accessed via the Sensors Unlimited website.
