Following negotiations between Carillion plc and Casella Group Ltd, the acquisition of Stanger Ltd, which trades as Stanger Science and Environment, has been agreed.
Following negotiations between Carillion plc and Casella Group Ltd, the acquisition of Stanger Ltd, which trades as Stanger Science and Environment, has been agreed.
Casella Group Ltd is a long established and rapidly expanding group of companies specialising primarily in the environmental sector and offers excellent integration and development opportunities for the existing Stanger services and for its employees.
The acquisition of Stanger forms a key component of Casella Group's future business strategy where it intends to be a leading participant in the built and natural environmental markets.
The deal recognises the technical excellence offered by Stanger, particularly with respect to sustainability consultancy, and will allow those skills to develop within a specialist Group which is committed to their future development.
The acquisition builds on the purchase by Casella in June 1999 of the environment division of SGS UK Ltd.
SGS Environment specialises in marine, freshwater, coastal and terrestrial ecology as well as waste management, contaminated land and air quality as well as having a significant expertise in landscape architecture and urban design.
The combined breadth of environmental services is considerable, ranging from environmental strategy to technical analysis.
Though there will be limited scope for cost savings, the objective of the acquisition is for Casella Group Ltd to offer more services, to a much greater depth and to a wider customer base.
The industry leading environmental performance improvement programme conducted by Carillion plc will continue to be managed and developed by Stanger Science and Environment under a long term service level agreement.
