Thermocouple version of temperature transmitters
Status Instruments are introducing the thermocouple version of their unique and highly successful SEM203 series of low cost, push-button programmable, temperature transmitters.
The DM3430 has been specifically designed for the discerning engineer and provides true RMS current and voltage measurement for a wide range of process applications.
This RMS current value is related to the heating effect of a waveform and is quite different to the average or mean value of an AC signal, which is sometimes measured and then scaled as an RMS value.
This lower cost alternative may be acceptable if the waveform is a pure undistorted sine wave but in practice this rarely occurs and errors of up to 30% can result.
Readings can be displayed directly as voltage or current or scaled to display appropriate engineering units.
The input is galvanically isolated to 3.5 kV from the rest of the electronics circuitry allowing the instrument to be mounted anywhere in the circuit when measuring current.
Standing voltages can be ignored and current or voltage differentials can be measured with high levels of common mode potentials.
The DM3430 has no internal jump links and therefore can be fully set up and programmed either via the front panel or remotely via the RS485 interface.
Options, including relays, 4-20mA re-transmission and RS485 ModBus RTU serial communication, are easily installed using Status' plug and play POD option.
This unique feature allows the options to be quickly slotted in, without dismantling the case.
To ensure true IP65 front panel sealing, the 3430 has a special built-in sealing gasket, all round 360deg clamping and integral one piece push button seal.
The fully tactile push buttons ensure positive operation and the high intensity 4 digit LED can be set to a fixed number of decimal places with auto-rounding to always show maximum resolution.
Standard software features include Peak and Valley memory and an Alarm Inhibit which can be programmed to disable the alarm function for a fixed period during start up.
The DM 3430 is part of Status Instruments' extensive range of digital panel meters, temperature transmitters and data loggers. Request a free brochure from Status Instruments ...
