Sick Stegmann has introduced VFS 60 motor feedback systems These hollow shaft encoders mount to asynchronous motors in an industry-standard 60mm housing

Sick Stegmann's new F technology features a nickel code disc to provide more robust operation and tolerance to temperatures as high as 100C, compared with conventional optical encoders that have a glass or plastic rotating disc with a typical rating of 70C.

VFS 60 encoders are IP65 rated and are available with a TTL or HTL interface.

The ball bearings that support the encoder shaft are spaced 30mm apart for excellent concentricity and robustness, with minimum encoder vibration.

Hollow shaft clamping provides substantial increases in overall encoder reliability and immunity to electrical interference, especially when mounting to asynchronous motors, due to electrical isolation between the motor shaft and encoder.

Hollow shaft clamping also provides easy mounting while minimising run out problems with collets.

A radial/axial cable outlet reduces installation depth by up to 28% and allows a single encoder type to be used for various applications.
