Extreme temperature sensors at conventional prices

A Sensor-Technik product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Feb 7, 2002

A new range of thin-film technology pressure sensors can handle temperatures from -40 to 200C while using standard electronics to keep the price more conventional.

A new range of thin-film technology pressure sensors can handle from -40 to 200C while using standard electronics to keep the price more conventional.

The Model A08 from Sensor-Technik UK also features temperature correction on the pressure capsule giving quick and reliable compensation.

There is no need for stand-off pipes, air/water cooling, or any extra mechanical pipework.

Suitable for applications in hydraulics, autoclaves, chemical, process and machine building industries, the sensors are based on thin film technology, which means the measuring element and complete sensor is constructed in stainless steel, avoiding the need for oil-filling, O-ring, ceramic, sealastic etc.

Two versions are available: the Option HT for media temperatures of -40 to +125C and the Option XHT for media temperatures of -40 to 200C.

Pressure ranges cover 10 to 1000bar with all the standard electrical outputs including 4-20mA, 0 to 10V, 1 to 6V etc.

Linearity is better than 0.5% and hysteresis and repeatability are less than 0.1%.

Standard pressure connection is G1/4 BSP male to DIN16288 specification, and the sensor is available with either flying lead or standard M12 electrical connector, as used on proximity switches and the like, widely are proven for harsh environments.

All of this is available at very little additional cost compared with a standard sensor.

List price of the standard A08 is GBP 74, with only an extra cost of GBP 8 for the option HT (-40 to +125C media temperature), making this sensor unique in the pressure market.

A special version has been designed and is currently being used for continuous pressure measurements in gas-diesel engines for monitoring and regulating combustion pressure.
