Pressure sensor suits rally cars

A Sensor-Technik UK product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Apr 24, 2007

The A09-Auto pressure sensor has been designed for engine and general car development and testing, in particular for harsh applications such as rally and touring cars.

Sensor-Technik UK is introducing the next generation of thin film pressure transmitters for the automotive testing sector, the A09-Auto.

This high-precision pressure sensor range has been designed for engine and general car development and testing, in particular for harsh applications such as rally and touring cars.

The series has been designed to withstand wide temperature ranges, vibration, shock and automotive EMC levels.

Features include a hermetically sealed, gas-filled housing to prevent condensation and give temperature stability.

The sensor can be washed down with pressure washers, and has been specifically designed for safety-critical applications such as brakes - even in the unlikely event that the diaphragm is damaged, there will be no loss of pressure or oil, as the housing is hermetically-sealed.

The pressure sensing element uses the latest thin-film technology, giving small diaphragm size, long-term stability and enabling a high-integrity, welded stainless steel construction.

Pressure spike protection can be added without increasing the length and size.

Pressure ranges available are 4bar ABS, 5, 10 and 170bar.

Signal output is 0.5 to 4.5V single-ended amplified.

The protection class is IP67 and the EMC rating is EN50081-1 and EN50081-2.

The unit weight is just 70g without cable.
