Strongbox acoustic racks have been used by the Soho production-company, Resolution, in the editing of both the fly-on-the-wall documentaries, 'Big Brother' and the 'Popstars' programme that covered the auditions and selection of the pop group HearSay.
For such programmes, it is essential that the editing suite is a quiet environment but, by necessity, is in close proximity to noisy equipment such as video workstations disk arrays and digital video tape recorders.
Phil Crawley of Resolution stated that these programmes could not be made without the high quality Strongbox acoustic racks saying: "There are no other racks on the market that can do this job to the required standard.
The Strongbox racks give extremely high levels of sound suppression and this means that noisy drive equipment can be positioned just an arms length away from the controller but does not interfere with production standards.
Initially designed by Strongbox for the BBC, the Strongbox acoustic range is ruggedly built in steel and models are available from 12U, which fit under a standard desk, to 30U.
They are also supplied in various depths to suit many different applications and environments.
Capable of dissipating 1500 watts, all racks in the range are designed with a high plinth through which the cooling air enters the cabinet.
The air is then drawn through the rack into a double skinned back panel through which it passes before being expelled.
The complete rack is clad with 20mm cloth covered rock wall acoustic treatment.
A noise reduction of 20dB is achieved making these racks ideal for use in TV and radio production and editing suites to silence VTR systems, digital audio stores and similar equipment.
